Thomas Bühner - Quality without Compromise

Thomas Bühner**

Thomas Bühner, head chef at the la vie restaurant in Osnabrück, started his career with the wander years typical of a chef. He gained experiences at Germany's best restaurants under masters like Günter Scherrer, Harald Wohlfahrt and Jörg Müller. In 1991, he took over the La Table restaurant in Hohensyburg Casino, which quickly became a Mecca for gourmet tourists. Two Michelin stars signalled that La Table was one of the best German restaurants, Thomas Bühner was honoured as Chef of the Year and received 19 Gault Millau points.

When the Casino operator tried to convince the star chef to abandon his premium concept, he nipped the businessman's suggestion in the bud and declined. As a quality fanatic Thomas Bühner can only cook like he cooks: exceptionally well and rich in aromas and intensive flavour. The head chef loves to play with micro elements, so that each fork or spoonful tastes different and he didn't want to compromise on his fans' pleasure in anyway. Consequently, he took his whole crew and moved to the la vie in Osnabrück. Here he is able to concentrate unimpeded on his culinary curiosity and continue passing on his skills to interested gourmets in the "taste school".

Thomas Bühner is supported by his partner Thayarni Kanagaratnam, who as hostess creates the soul of the restaurant. The top chef creates the sensation with her support: all the honours from the La Table period came back just six months after the move and there are two stars shining above la vie to this day.

However, in our opinion it is high time that third star arrived. You are bound to share this opinion when you see Thomas Bühner live at the CHEF-SACHE.
